Apopka Burglary Report: Week of 5/16/2016 - 5/23/2016

"Oy!" That was the reaction of my co-worker when I showed her the Burglary Map posted here. Oy vey ist mir is a Yiddish phrase expressing dismay or exasperation. She may have been dismayed but I wonder if the other word might describe our city police department. Exasperation - a feeling of intense irritation or annoyance.

Why exasperation? Because nearly all of the reported burglaries involve UNLOCKED CAR DOORS. Forced entry is not the problem, as discussed in one of our first story's about vehicle burglaries, Lock It or Lose It.

We should all be dismayed and exasperated at this weeks record setting Burglary Report. 21 Vehicle Burglaries reported for the 4th week in May is a record high in 2016. Not since February has this number been so high when 20 vehicle burglaries were reported. The total number of burglaries is one shy of the most reported which was 22 in that same week of February.
