From the Apopka Police Department

The Apopka Police Department will make the holidays brighter for 70 families during the Shop with a Cop event on December 14th at the Apopka Walmart, 1700 South Orange Blossom Trail.

The annual tradition brings together families in need to shop for holiday gifts alongside Apopka police officers. Funds are donated by local businesses and organizations. On Tuesday, Joanne Castillo presented the police department with a check on behalf of the Apopka Woman’s Club. Other contributors include K & T Manufacturing, MJR Woodworks, Able Best Agency, Dan Newlin and Partners, Patricio’s Hair Studio, SJ Music & Art, Fun Planners, Apopka Dental Art, Vellon Law Firm and Carter Electric.

To donate, contact Apopka Police Officer Jason Wiggins at 407-703-1771.

Families are pre-selected with help from Apopka area public schools. At 4 p.m. December 14th, each family will team up with one police officer, who will help them to select items and keep track of their budgeted money. Each year the event helps local families to become more familiar with Apopka’s police officers and to spread the spirit of the holidays.
