  1. I hope Reggie will let me post this as a public service message to the Apopka Voice readers, even though it doesn’t have anything to do with the above article…..We just came back from the Save A Lot grocery store, to get my dog some packs of chicken, which is what he favors to eat in the mornings…..as we entered the store, the cashier announced that the food stamp system is down in our area of Apopka, and they could not accept any EBT purchases. Now, we do not get food stamps ourselves, but this message kept getting announced over the speakers, while we were in there, and the employee told us that people were leaving, and going to the other grocery stores in our area, such as Winn-Dixie, and Publix, and it was the same there, at those grocery stores too….the food stamp system is down for our area. The cashier was having to put grocery buggies of items back, because the shoppers didn’t have the cash, and were planning to use the EBT and couldn’t with the system down, so they left the food right there at the front line. So if you plan on grocery shopping with food stamps today, at least inquire if the system is up and running again, BEFORE you go to the registers with all your buggy loads of food, if you plan on paying with the EBT. EBT, I think was what they said, as I don’t know anything about these food stamps, as we don’t get them.
